May 12th: Limerick Day
In celebration of Limerick Day, here is a Limerick by Steven Sharp for Mark Maxon:
There once was a talk-host named Maxon,
Who listened and talked and he waxed-on.
‘Til his listeners could tell,
That he really was swell.
And that, of the facts, he could grasp on.
Here is a limerick by Gary R. Lundquist for our Political friends:
We vote in smart people, you see.
Then we send them by planes to DC.
Where They’re met by big money,
Handshakes and smiles sunny.
No more will there voting be free.
And finally, here are a few more politically-motivated limericks that we’ve found:
When George Bush gave his yearly address
There were things we hoped he’d confess
Like illegal wiretapping
And maybe he was napping
While the gulf region was under distress
There was once a firm called Halliburton
Their stock price, it was a-hurtin’
But with the war in Iraq
They’re now in the black
You might say their success was certain
As Exxon-Mobil posted a record earning
Most Americans had just started learning
They’re getting screwed at the pump
And prices will jump
Whenever Big Oil has the yearning
